The current issue of Journal of Business Strategy reviewed MarketBusters at Strategy Bookshelf.
The authors of this title identify 40 powerful strategic moves they call "marketbusters," approaches that dramatically reconfigure profit streams in an industry, upend conventional competition, and ultimately deliver blockbuster growth.
They focus on five overall strategies that drive new growth: changing the customer's total experience, reconfiguring your products and services; redefining your business and associated key metrics; anticipating or exploiting industry shifts; and creating a new market space. The authors also propose a useful checklist at the outset of the book in the form of a "strategic audit" to identify the baseline from which a company can assess its current strategy. The authors hail from Columbia Business School and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
